Texas Tech men’s basketball coach Chris Beard gives the Guns Up.
It is November which means it is time for Texas Tech hoops. It is not too late to purchase your tickets at texastech.com or visit the Texas Tech ticket office located on the east side of Jones AT&T stadium. Season tickets start at $149.
Texas Tech Red Raiders
Coach Chris Beard and his team face Missouri Western State on Nov. 4 at the United Supermarkets Arena, followed by Houston Baptist on Nov. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the arena.
The men had a successful season last year making it into the NCAA tournament for the first time since the 2006-2007 season. Be on the lookout for Aaron Ross, the three-point man, along with some beautiful dunks by Zach Smith. Justin Gray is also back and is a go-to player in clutch moments.
Texas Tech Lady Raiders
The first game of the season is Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. at the United Supermarkets Arena. The ladies will take on the Midwestern State Mustangs followed by North Dakota on Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. at the area. They hope to improve on a 13-17 record from the 2015-2016 season.
Coach Candi Whitaker is back with a fairly young team – only two seniors and a handful of juniors. Senior Ivonne Cook-Taylor was the team leader in points last season and will continue to be a team leader and scoring threat. This past August the ladies travelled to Spain and Portugal to participate in the Foreign Tour and came back to Texas with a 3-0 record.
As season ticket holders, we had the opportunity to attend the season ticket holder’s appreciation event. It was a great evening with a sneak peak of the new video board, food, meet and greet with the players and coaches, and a behind the scenes look at a typical Red Raider practice, complete with drills.
The men’s and women’s games are both very interactive and great for families. Come out to the games and support these student athletes and coaches. See you there!
